The Rules

(If you want to break a record that is published in a record book or governed by an international authorithy, there may be other or additional rules. See here for more information.)

  1. This barrel rolling record is for a team of 10, with only one person pushing at any one time. No substitutes are permitted. A maximum of two people may drop out. If a third person has to, the attempt is invalidated.
  2. The barrel must weigh at least 63.5 kg [140 lbs] and any attempt is to be made on a flat tarmac road surface.
  3. The record is for the distance covered in 24 hours, so it may be best to use a measured circular course and go over the same route the required number of times.
  4. The barrel must be moving at all times.
  5. It is permitted to cushion the barrel with something such as conveyor belt rubber on either end to reduce the noise.
