LAS VEGAS, Nev. (July 6, 2005)   Geoff Weber, a 37-year-old Navy Intelligence Officer, today broke a Guinness World Record running on a new Nautilus treadmill at the 2005 IDEA World Fitness Convention.  Weber shattered the 50 kilometer world record with a time of three hours, 41 minutes and 53 seconds, beating the previous record by nearly three minutes.

"This is a very exciting moment for me.  I have been focused on this event for a couple of months and Nautilus has helped to support and prepare me for the event so that I could break this record," said Weber, who finished with a smile on his face and a fist in the air.

Fueling himself with energy drinks, nutrition bars and the well wishes of fitness professionals from around the world, Weber held a pace of approximately 8.4 mph and averaged just over a seven-minute mile pace for the majority of the run. A UNLV track coach was onsite to help support Weber, as well as his trainer, to supply drinks and monitor Weber's progress throughout the morning.  Nautilus Institute advisor and world-renowned biomechanics expert Tom Purvis was also on hand to offer encouragement and generate excitement throughout the convention.

"It's incredible to see an individual push himself to the limit and achieve a goal most people would never dream of attempting," said Purvis.  "Even amongst a convention of fitness professionals, Geoff is an inspiration to all of us."

Weber previously held the 50 kilometer world record which he set in December 2004 aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.  The record was broken in March 2005, but Weber has now reclaimed the title.  Weber is aspiring to be a Navy SEAL and, if accepted to the program, will be the oldest person to undergo the training.  In addition, he hopes to one day break the world record for the amount of time it takes to run across America - currently set at 46 days.

Geoff Weber redefines fitness.  We truly admire his dedication and passion and are proud to support him in reaching his goals," said Tim Hawkins, the company's Chief Marketing Officer. "He is an amazing individual who inspires everyone around him to achieve a lifetime of health and fitness."
